The benefits of antioxidants

Antioxidants crop up frequently when good health and preventing diseases  is discussed. These powerful substances, which mostly come from fruits and vegetables, prohibit – in some cases  prevent – , the oxidation of molecules in the body. The benefits of antioxidants are very important for our wellbeing, because if free radicals are left unchallenged, they can cause illnesses and chronic diseases.
The human body naturally produces free radicals and antioxidants to counteract them. In most cases, however, free radicals outnumber the natural antioxidants. So a continual supply of external antioxidants is needed to obtain the maximum benefits of antioxidants.
